Cancelled - At noon there were strong West
winds close
to the
recommended limit pushing large waves down
the length
of the lake. Rescue conditions were
difficult and
exacerbated by limited rescue crew numbers.
At 2:50 a
storm cell hit the Club with hail and winds
far
exceeding the Club recommended maximum. No
measurement
was taken as it was difficult to stand up
let alone
peer at the anemometer with hail battered
eyes. The air
temperature was forecast at 10 degrees C and
with an
accompanying 20 Knot wind, the wind chill
dropped to
-1.0 degrees C effective. The air
temperature( est. <3
deg) and wind speed (est >30 Knots)during
the
storm was
such that wind chill was estimated at less
than -15.0
degrees C effective. It is of interest
to note that
the storm cell did not show up at the
Coldstream
Automatic weather station just 2.5 Km
distant.
