The Championship Series

From the 2023/2024 The Championship series runs through Spring, Autumn, Summer and Winter.

Points are accumulated from both the Yardstick and Performance Handicap System, PHS, results from Club, Marathon, Stern Chaser, Parks Victoria Trophy and the Commodore's Cup, are excluded from the points tally.

The Championship Series is an open series meaning that that there are no Divisions apart from the separation into dinghies and multihulls. All boats from all classes and across all abilities are included.

In a typical year there are around 35 completed races that make up the Championship Series. More than 60 boats are generally involved. Competitors must sail more than half the races and at least one race in each of the season seriies to be eligible for the Club Champion award.

The Committee decided that beginning in the 2023/2024 season, 50% rounded down races may be dropped. This is to allow people who sail elsewhere duiring the holiday period to remain competitive.

It is the Yardstick result that is used to calculate the winner.

So the Championship is scored like one big regatta lasting over the whole season. The winners, the Club Champions, need to not only sail many races but also must be a consistent top performer.
