Thank You

Thank you for checking out our Appeal page. From time to time people ask us how they can help the Club. There are ways through voluntary work and we are often supported with materials and equipment surplus to peoples requirements or we construct our own but not everyone has the time and sometimes we need new professional equipment. This page details the Clubs' current wish list so that our friends can make a direct contribution.

You can donate toward items listed below. Here is how it works. You need only hit the appropriate donate button for the item to which you would most like to contribute. That donation, no matter how small, is tagged and kept aside until we have enough funds to go ahead with the purchase.

An Automated Electronic Defibrillator.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest kills over 30,000 people in Australia every year. On average, over 600 people every day.

Victims only have minutes to live but with quick response, survival rates are well over 50%. AEDs are standard equipment for emergency response people and are becoming that way for schools and offices.

We can acquire on of these, or one like it, for our sailing club for approximately $3000. Your contribution may well save a life. We have the trained first aiders we just need the item to be kept with our ever present first aid box. .

Slings

The Sugarloaf Sailing Club supports disabled sailing. In many instances this requires transferring sailors from a wheelchair to specialised boats by way of a sling suspended from a crane.

We have a fleet for 7 sailors but only two slings. This means we are forced to either manually lift the sailors once they are in the boat to recover and reuse the slings or we have most of our fleet standing idle with a que of keen sailors waiting for just two sailors and the slings to return to shore.

The slings are available for approximately $300 each. We need 5.

Junior Sized Life Jackets

Sugarloaf Sailing Club has a Squad of young sailors. We introduce, train and coach youngsters in the sport. We do so at the least possible cost to kids and their parents and we provide the life jackets at least until the prospective young sailors are bitten by the sailing bug, know that they are committeed and want their own.

Life jackets are mandatroy on the Reservoir and we only use those constructed to at least PFD2 Australian Standards.

They are approximately $50 each. We need 6.
